Test Information:
Measurement of serum carbon dioxide total ( CO2 ) is necessary for the evaluation of acid-base status. High CO2 content may be observed in compensated respiratory acidosis and metabolic alkalosis. Low CO2 content may be observed in compensated respiratory alkalosis and metabolic acidosis.

Notes:
To obtain optimal results, it is recommended to transport freshly collected or aliquoted specimen within 2 hours from the time of collection.
- However, if delay in transportation occurs, it is vital to follow the stipulated storage and stability. Specimen received beyond the stipulated storage and stability is considered “sub-optimal” in nature.
- Collect venous blood and aliquot specimen using CLOSED SYSTEM.
