Chikungunya Virus PCR

Test Information:
This test is used in the detection of Chikungunya virus, that causes a disease syndrome characterized by fever, headache, rash, nausea, vomiting, myalgia and arthralgia and its transmission to human is mainly through Aedes species mosquitoes.

Specimen Container:
Gold Top SST Tube (with clot activator) or Lavender Top Tube (EDTA)

Serum or Plasma
– 2 mL
Whole Blood – 4 mL

Patient Preparation:
No Patient Preparation

Notes:

  • Submit aliquoted plasma sample in plain tube.
  • RNA MUST be extracted within 3 days after sample collection.
