Clostridium difficile GDH is a rapid qualitative enzyme immunoassay screening test to detect Clostridium difficile antigen, glutamate dehydrogenase, in fecal specimens from persons suspected of having C. difficile infection (CDI). This test does not distinguish between toxigenic and non-toxigenic strains of C. difficile.

To obtain optimal results, it is recommended that freshly collected specimen must be submitted in the laboratory as soon as possible or 1 hour after specimen collection.
- However, if delay in transportation occurs, it is vital to follow the stipulated storage and stability. Specimen received beyond the stipulated storage and stability is considered “sub-optimal” in nature.
- Specimen should not be contaminated with urine, water or other contaminants.
