Test Information:
This test is used in the identification and diagnosis of Bacterial gastroenteritis commonly referred to as bacterial diarrhea or infectious diarrhea. Diarrhea is the usual symptom of an infection of the intestinal tract and is the leading cause of child morbidity and mortality in the world.

Required Volume:
For Stool: Pea Size
For Milk: at least 5 mL
Patient Preparation:
•Ensure proper collection technique. (Do not get sample on the toilet bowl).
•Sterile collection and if from both breast, it should be in separate container.
Notes:
- A preliminary report will be released once a pathogenic organism is isolated in 24 to 48 hours.
- Include in Internal Message: ward, type of specimen, site of collection and special remarks/endorsement.
- Please indicate Time and Date of Collection.
