Japanese encephalitis virus RNA

Test Information:
Detection of Japanese encephalitis virus in serum, plasma or CSF; is a mosquito-born disease, that is transmitted through the bite of an infected female culex mosquito.

Specimen Container:

  • Lavender Top Tube (EDTA)
  • Gold Top SST Tube (with clot activator) or Red Top Tube (Plain)
  • Sterile / Plain Urine Container

Specimen Type:

  • Whole Blood
  • Serum
  • CSF

Required Volume:

  • Whole blood – 4 mL
  • Serum or plasma – 2 mL
  • CSF – 2 mL

Patient Preparation:
No Patient Preparation

Notes:
RNA MUST be extracted within 3 days after sample collection.
