Malaria test is performed to help diagnose malaria, to monitor for relapses, and to determine drμg susceptibility of the parasite causing the infection. Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal parasitic disease characterized by fever, chills, and anemia. An immunochromatographic test kit is used to determine the presence of malarial antigen.

To obtain optimal results, it is recommended to transport freshly collected specimen within 2 hours from time of collection. Blood smear must be made within 2 hours and whole blood for the antigen testing can be kept at 2 to 8˚C for 24 hours.
