Partial Thromboplastin Time mixing study is done to detect the cause of a prolonged PTT screening test. It is used to distinguish factor deficiencies from factor inhibitors, such as lupus anticoagulant, heparin, direct thrombin inhibitor or specific factor inhibitors.

To obtain optimal results, it is recommended to transport freshly collected specimen within 15 minutes from time of collection or aliquoted specimen within 4 hours from time of collection.
- For aliquoted specimen, DO NOT USE GLASS TUBE CONTAINER.
- Specimen received beyond the stipulated storage and stability is considered “sub-optimal” in nature.
- DO NOT FREEZE SPECIMEN!
