Protein S

Test Information:
Protein S (S-Protein) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein that is found in two forms in plasma. A Protein S deficiency may be acquired or inherited and is associated with an increased risk for recurrent venous thrombosis.

Notes:
To obtain optimal results, it is recommended to separate plasma from whole blood within 15 minutes from the time of collection; aliquoted specimen must be transported within 4 hours from the time of collection.

  • However, if delay in transportation occurs, it is vital to follow the stipulated storage and stability. Specimen received beyond the stipulated storage and stability is considered “sub-optimal” in nature.
  • For FROZEN specimen, send specimen on running day prior to cut-off period; ONE TIME THAWING ONLY!
