Serum Protein Electrophoresis

Test Information:
This test aids to detect and quantify monoclonal components for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with monoclonal gammopathies. It also demonstrates better separation and identification of some monoclonal bands migrating in this zone.

Specimen Container:
Gold Top SST Tube (with clot activator) or Red Top Tube (Plain)

Specimen Type:
Serum

Required Volume:
2 mL

Patient Preparation:
8 hours fasting

Notes:
The following test results (resulted within a month) must be attached and/or provided upon specimen endorsement:
1. Serum Total Protein
       2. Patient’s abstract or initial diagnosis for clinical correlation.
