Silica Clotting Time

Test Information:
The silica clotting time (SCT) is a phospholipid-dependent coagulation assay used for the laboratory diagnosis of lupus anticoagulant (LA) antibodies. It is essentially an activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) test wherein Silica replaces Kaolin. The presence of lupus anticoagulants (LA) is a strong risk factor for thrombosis in antiphospholipid syndrome. It may also be used to  investigate prolonged APTT values. The SCT test contains a low dose of phospholipid which makes it very sensitive as a screening test for Lupus Anticoagulant.

For aliquoted specimen, DO NOT USE GLASS TUBE CONTAINER.
