Test Information:
For isolation, identification, and susceptibility of pathogenic organisms of CSF and other body fluid.

Sterile / Plain Urine Container

CSF and Other sterile body fluids

Required Volume:
10 to 15 mL

Patient Preparation:
No Patient Preparation

Notes:

  • It is recommended that CSF samples are transported and processed immediately after collection.
  • A preliminary report will be released once a pathogenic organism is isolated in 24 to 48 hours.
  • Include in Internal Message: ward, type of specimen, site of collection and special remarks/endorsement.

  • For CSF:
    Storage: 18 to 24°C
    Stability: 24 hours from the time of collection
  • For other body fluid:
    Storage: 2 to 8°C
    Stability: 24 hours from the time of collection
